1968 Gibson EDS-1275 Sunburst
1968 Gibson EDS-1275 Doubleneck in Sunburst. It has two great playing one-piece necks with great frets. All parts are original with the exception of one altered PAF pickup, one switch tip, the nut for one of the toggle switches, the truss rod nut and tension plate on the 12-string. The altered PAF pickup is in the neck position on the 12-string side. The bottom plate has six additional pole piece holes drilled into it. A later 1970's Gibson hardshell case is included. Even though this was not marked as a factory second, there are cosmetic details indicating that it probably should have been. When inspected in the right light, some flaws are visible underneath the factory finish on both headstocks. Small areas of the peghead veneer had chipped and lifted around 4 of the tuning peg holes on the 6-string neck and around 3 of the holes on the 12-string neck. This usually occurs when tightly held ferrules are forced out of the hole. It appears the lifted chips in the veneer were glued down before applying the finish over it. The tuning peg holes for the 6-string had the finish sanded away from inside the hole (likely to make a better fit for the ferrules). The tuning peg holes for the 12-string still have the original finish in the holes which is more typical of Gibson's factory process. There is also a couple globs of touch-up on the peghead of the 6-string which we do not believe is from the factory. This Doubleneck is in very good condition with some nicks + dings, finish checking and other cosmetic wear. The serial number is hand written on the underside of one pickguard. The guitar itself remains structurally sound. All electronics work and sound great.
