1959 Gibson Double Mandolin EMS-1235 in its original Sunburst finish. The serial number dates it to '59 with a "T" factory order number (1958) on the inside of the body. It has two great playing necks with great frets. All parts are original with the exception of the tuning buttons and one screw for a truss rod cover. The original screw for the full scale side truss rod cover had broken inside the wood and the replacement was put in next to it. The original hardshell case is also included with a replaced handle. Structurally, this rare doubleneck is in great shape, but has some areas where some repairs were made. The full scale neck had a long surface crack running parallel with the neck from the bottom of the headstock down to the 9th fret area that was glued before the back of the neck was oversprayed. The sides of the headstock for that same neck have been glued and touched-up in a couple of areas. The bottom edge also had some cracks running out from the jack and from the lower strap button. These cracks were glued and the bottom edge has been oversprayed. Before the cracks around the jack were glued, a wide jack plate was used to secure the jack which has left four addition screw holes. The knob for the full scale volume pot has been secured with glue on the inside. There are also two very small holes in the top just below the tension bar of the factory Bigsby. The mandolin neck bridge also has made an indention in the top from the adjustment posts in the base for the bridge. Cosmetically, there are lots of nicks + dings, finish checking and other cosmetic wear. All electronics work and sound great with 3 original PAF pickups.
